The Blue Lagoon is one of the most photographed spots near Trogir — a shallow, electric-turquoise bay where a bright sandy seabed turns the water an almost tropical blue. This guide covers where it is, how to get there, and how to make the most of your visit.
Where is the Blue Lagoon?
It forms around the Veli and Mali Krknjaš islets, just off Drvenik Veli island, in the channel west of Trogir and Šolta — about 5 nautical miles, or 30–40 minutes by speedboat, from Trogir and Seget Donji.
How to get to the Blue Lagoon
- From Trogir / Seget Donji: about 30–40 minutes by speedboat
- From Split: a little longer by boat
- There is no road access — you reach it by boat, on an organised tour or a private charter
Best time to visit
Midday in July and August is busiest. For calmer water and fewer boats, choose a morning departure or visit in June, September or October. The famous turquoise colour is at its best from late morning to mid-afternoon on a sunny, calm day.
What to do there
Swim, snorkel and relax. The shallow, sheltered water is ideal for snorkelling over the sandy bottom, where you'll spot fish and the occasional starfish. Bring a mask, and reef shoes help on the rocky edges.
Is the Blue Lagoon worth it?
Yes — for clear, calm, genuinely swimmable water it's the standout spot near Trogir. Pairing it with a stop on Šolta or Drvenik makes a perfect half-day on the water.
How to visit with SeaExplore
